Objectives

Project Objectives

Enable societal stakeholders to distinguish valid from non-valid trust, healthy from unreasonable distrust

Enable societal stakeholders to deal with the uncertain, incomplete, and multiple viewpoints that accompany scientific knowledge

Enable researchers to foster trust in science, making research inclusive, transparent and able to respond to societal needs and concerns

Enable researchers to conduct relevant and meaningful research beyond their own interests, preferences, and ideological biases

IANUS realizes these objectives by:

Bringing a balance between

  • recognizing both the crucial relevance and the complexities of science,
  • fostering trust in science, research and innovation while also encouraging healthy public skepticism

Preventing that science distances itself

from societal values and expectations, by encouraging ongoing and reciprocal dialogues that re-connect science and society

Empowering

researchers, citizens and other societal actors to engage in co-creative research

Deepening our understanding

of trust in science, research and innovation as a ‘product’ of a resilient society

Thus, we contribute to strengthening research by widening participation. Therefore, our work and results are essential to realising the objectives of the WIDERA (Widening participation and strengthening the European Research Area) program as a whole.
