Unveiling Trust and Integrity: Highlights from the Inaugural Year of the IANUS Project

With a strong focus on trust, integrity, and science communication, IANUS has made strides in advancing research and understanding in these crucial areas.

The project developed a robust Data Management Plan (DMP) to ensure the secure handling and sharing of project data. This comprehensive plan guarantees compliance with data protection regulations and fosters efficient collaboration among project members. Ethics and responsible research practices are at the forefront of the IANUS project. An extensive ethics review was conducted, ensuring that all research activities adhere to ethical principles and regulations. This commitment to ethical standards ensures the integrity and credibility of the project’s findings.

The project’s contextual framework on trust in science provides a deeper understanding of this complex topic. By examining various historical case studies, the team has gained valuable insights into the dynamics of trust and distrust, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of trust in scientific endeavors.

Addressing conflicts of interest is paramount to maintaining trust and transparency. The IANUS project has developed a living document proposing four typologies of conflicts of interest, offering a valuable resource for identifying and managing potential conflicts.

Excitingly, the project has also embarked on drafting co-authored, interdisciplinary scientific articles for publication. This collaborative effort aims to disseminate the project’s findings to a wider audience, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and understanding in the field.

The first year of the IANUS project has laid a solid foundation for research and exploration of trust, integrity, and science communication.
