The Cluster Meeting on Trust in Science

On December 11, the IANUS Project collaborated with our sister projects, the POIESIS and VERITY projects, to host an engaging and thought-provoking Cluster Meeting on the theme: “The Role of Trust in Science for Effective Policy and Societal Progress”.

A central highlight of the meeting was the active participation of representatives from the European Commission, including Dr. Georgios Papanagnou and Fara Lledó San Mauro. Their insights and guidance emphasized the importance of trust in science for fostering societal progress and maximizing the impact of collaborative projects.

The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers and contributors from across Europe, including:

  • IANUS project – Presented by Hub Zwart, Erasmus University Rotterdam
  • VERITY project – Presented by Dr. Agata Gurzawska, Trilateral Research IE
  • POIESIS project – Represented by Leonidas Ananiadis, National Technical University of Athens
  • The PREPARED project – Presented by Kalle Videnoja, Finnish National Board on Research Integrity
  • University of West Attica (UniWa) – Presented by Panagiotis Monahelis
  • EUREC Office – Represented by Lisa Häberlein, who shared insights on the joint policy paper and extended an invitation for the broader Trust in Science Cluster to contribute towards actionable recommendations for building societal trust in science.

The meeting was expertly moderated by Mathieu Rochambeau, also from the EUREC Office, ensuring a vibrant and open dialogue throughout the event.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, presenters, and panelists for their enthusiasm, innovative ideas, and dedication to advancing this crucial topic. A special thank you to the European Commission representatives for their invaluable support and insights.

As we look ahead, let’s continue this vital conversation and work together to enhance societal trust in science. Stay connected for updates on upcoming events and initiatives. Together, we can make a lasting impact!
