On 27th and 28th February, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and its Data and Web Science Lab participated in the unconference and first TaskForce gathering organized in Munich, Germany by etami and BDVA – Big Data Value Association! Computer scientists, sociologists, ethicists, as well as legal researchers gathered to discuss how to advance reliable, trustworthy, ethical, and quality AI.

Etami stands for Ethical and Trustworthy Artificial and Machine Intelligence. By translating European and global principles for ethical AI into actionable and measurable guidelines, tools and methods, etami supports and promotes trustworthy and ethical design, development, and deployment of AI systems.

During the unconference, fruitful discussions took place on how to transform AI into a reliable, fair, and human-centered field of science. In addition, the Task Force identified theoretical approaches and practical challenges that come alongside AI, and developed concrete work plans for transforming trustworthy and ethical AI principles to actionable methods and practices.
