Fraunhofer ISI recently conducted a large-scale survey among thousands of scientists in Europe as part of the SuperMoRRI project, which is funded by the EU Commission. The aim of the survey was to examine European researchers’ responsible research practices and their perception of, and attitudes towards, responsibility in research and innovation. The study was based on a stratified sample of 122 higher education institutes in 29 European countries. With around 4,200 valid responses, valuable insights were gained about values and concrete activities of European scientists on topics such as research ethics, public engagement, gender equality and open science, which are also important in order to ensure a trustful relationship between science and society. After data validation and cleaning the results of the survey are currently being analyzed and will be published soon. For more information on the survey as well as the research project as a whole, see: www.super-morri.eu.
